It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Cold weather got you in the holiday spirit? Give back this holiday season by participating in PRSSA at LSU’s holiday toy & food drive.
This November, PRSSA at LSU will host a food drive benefiting the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank as well as a toy drive benefiting the U.S. Marine Corp’s annual Toys for Tots as a part of our organization’s ongoing youth-themed service initiative, PRotecting Future Tigers.
Last month’s service efforts included members volunteering at the Baton Rouge Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo (see the blog post about it here), participating in PRSSA’s national card-making drive benefiting University of California San Francisco Medical Center’s Children’s Hospital and donating LSU football tickets to the Children’s Neuromuscular Foundation of Louisiana.
PRSSA at LSU will be accepting new and unwrapped toys for children ages 3-14 and non-perishable food items until November 30.
Possible toys to donate include board, games, puzzles, dolls, stuffed animals, sporting equipment, toy cars/trucks, hand held electronics, bath gift sets, cosmetics and Legos.
Food items to donate include canned vegetables, canned soups, dried beans, canned meats, flour, rice, peanut butter, pasta, and breakfast cereal and bars.
Donations to both the food and toy drive must be placed in one of the designated bins. Marked bins can be found outside of 246 Hodges Hall and in the Holliday Forum of the Journalism building.
Members that donate one toy or five food items can receive one membership point per toy donated or per five food items donated. Members are encouraged to participate in both drives if possible. Those who do so can receive up to twomembership points. If you are donating for membership points, please make sure to put your name on a piece of paper and attach it to your items before placing them in the box.
All donations are greatly appreciated!
